Need some bathroom ideas?
Did you know there are only a handful of things you can do to drastically increase the value of your home. Renovating the bathroom is one of them.
I have some suggestions that will make your house look and feel better, and as I said before, increase the value substantially.
One of my favorite things to do is renovate the bathroom (or add a new one). You could get as much as 70% return on investment for a bathroom remodel and up to 95% for an added bathroom.

Of course if you (or your significant other) are only interested in getting rid of the avocado green toilet and the lilac tub, who can even try to place a value on that?
Bathrooms are probably one of my favorite rooms in the house. Not only are they practical, you can really put your own personal style and taste in with your own bathroom ideas.
There is always the option of adding a basement bathroom. This is great especially if you have teenagers in the house. One can never have enough bathrooms in that situation. I have four kids and I can just imagine when they become teenagers... shudder...
There are so many bathroom designs out there that you could spend a lot of time picking flooring, colors, toilets, sinks, tubs, showers, vanities, mirrors and the list goes on and on.
Rip out the old adhesive tile and install ceramic tile or porcelain. There are many great linoleum products out there. My wife won't let me put ceramic in the bathrooms because it is cold on the feet. I should have pushed for the heated floors, but we installed some excellent high grade linoleum that we are both super happy with.
If you are looking for a quick bathroom remodel check out what my wife and I did on the weekend.
I can help with tips, advice and instruction for everything from the demolition (my personal favorite) to laying the floor to putting on the final touches. I can navigate you to all the right places for each step you will take.
I can show you how to install ceramic tile or linoleum flooring. Don't like the cold tootsies? Install an electrically heated underlay. Some people like to put laminate floor or hardwood in the bathroom... I don't recommend it, but hey, it's your floor. There is a lot of water in a bathroom, one accident and the floor could be ruined.
We can install a toilet or run new lines to a shower/tub.
Check out how to install a faucet and how to install that sink. I can show you how to hook up the sink drain and what tools you will need to complete your projects.
If you are looking for a custom vanity, you can usually get free estimates from your local cabinet makers. This may be a few more dollars but the quality should be better that the "big box" stores and you will get exactly what you want. You could even design your own. I like to use Google SketchUp for my designing.
A big mistake of the average do it yourself handyman is that they rush through the job to get it done. No, no, no. Take your time. If you rush or cut corners to finish sooner or save a dollar here or there, it will show.
A full bathroom remodel is not cheap, but when you do it yourself you will save at least the same amount you spend on materials in labor.
Intimidated? Worried that the toilet will explode when you turn the water on? That's OK, we all have to start somewhere.
Together we can make your bathroom ideas into bathroom reality!
Hey, doing it yourself is great but if you are unsure of the advice given or the methods in which to job is done... don't do it. This site is merely a collection of how some people do home improvements. There is no way we can anticipate every situation and we do our best to inform of any risks for each job. Be sure to check local building codes for proper installation and permits.
If in doubt, hire it out.
